Motivational Monday!

11 Nov

I’m back on track today…with blogging, eating, exercising, etc. I apologize for the lack of posts last week, but I was enjoying having some free time with no marathon training 😉

After the marathon, I thought about what do I want to do next…it can be easy to get the “post-marathon blues” since you no longer have a training schedule to follow. But I’m really excited to make a new training schedule revolving around lifting. I can’t wait to get back into the gym.

In the past, after big races, I have taken at least a month off and done nothing. Then, I’d have to build back up from zero and that was frustrating…and my own fault! Now, 1 week after my key race of the year, I’m ready to continue building upon my foundation.

I will be getting back into lifting, while continuing to cross-train to maintain my cardio fitness. As the quote says, you need to put in effort day in and day out to achieve your goals. And I already have a few goals laid out for 2014!

Do you know what you want to accomplish before 2013 is over? Or in 2014?

How do you go about laying out goals and the steps you will take to get there?

October is over already…my friend and I were talking about New Year’s dresses the other day…where is time going??? I don’t want it to be 2014!

Anyway, last week, I found this quote on Instagram on a fellow runner’s account (@blonde_bun_runner). I totally could relate:

This can relate to anyone. How often do you get caught up with worrying and stressing out? We don’t even realize how much we worry sometimes. I saw this and immediately related it to my marathon training. I haven’t had the best last 3 weeks of running and I’m really nervous. Then I saw this and thought, I’m running a marathon. I have the ability to RUN, period. I have an able body, and 2 legs that will take me through 26.2 miles (hopefully). Time doesn’t matter. I should be thankful for the opportunity…because there are many people out there who wish they could walk or run. Something I need to remember whenever I start worrying this week…

What are you currently worrying about? How will you change your point of view on this and instead of thankful? Tell me in the comments!

Yesterday I watched Miracle with my sister…one of my favorite sports movies. It is so inspiring and motivating. It’s about pursuing your dreams, even when others, and even yourself think they are impossible. I found this quote which went along with this theme:

No matter what your dreams are, believe in them. Even if others don’t get them, or think it’s unrealistic, believe in yourself. Recently, I’ve been “dreaming” about this year in terms of my long distance running. I want, more than anything, to break my PRs in the half marathon and marathon. Mainly, I want to come back with a vengeance and take on New York City after a lackluster performance in 2011. These are my dreams. Sometimes others think I’m crazy, or tell me to stop running because of my shins, or tell me it won’t be possible because of my shin issues…but I believe in my dreams and goals. I have a good feeling 2013 will be a good year =)

What are your dreams for 2013? Do you “believe?”

18 Feb

It’s a new week! Can you believe there are less than 2 weeks left in February? Time really does fly. 2013 has been treating me well so far, and I hope the same goes for you! I am an optimist by nature, which is why I love today’s quote:

If you remain positive, and have a positive outlook on life, there is no doubt in my mind you will find happiness and fulfillment, even in the toughest of times. I have been going through a rough patch when it comes to self-satisfaction…but despite the negatives I always try to look on the bright side. There are so many things to be grateful for every day, and I remind myself of that. Sure, some days I am not happy with the way I look, or I have a bad run…but then I remember I am lucky I can even run, and that I have a healthy, strong body. Try to be positive this week, even in the face of tough challenges that come your way.

Do you usually look at the glass half full or half empty?

Motivational Monday! *Thanksgiving style*

19 Nov

It’s Monday! I’m actually excited that it’s Monday because it means Thanksgiving is that much closer. My sister comes home tomorrow which will be fun. I can’t wait to have a long weekend 🙂

I’m currently starting off my morning with a kale, celery and banana green smoothie, and some green tea. I bought a bunch of good stuff at the grocery store this weekend, so I’m planning on making Thursday my only “cheat” day! Hey, it’s Thanksgiving after all…

To get you in the mood for Thanksgiving, I found this quote:

Remember to make the best of everything you have this Thanksgiving and holiday season. Regardless of whether it’s health related or not, just remember that.

In terms of health, sometimes we get so focused on what we want our bodies to look like and not how amazing our bodies already are. You may have the ability to life, run, bike, walk, etc. Remember to be thankful for that 🙂

Have a great week!

What will you be eating for Thanksgiving? What’s your favorite dish?
