A New Venture + Giveaway!

10 Dec

I have some exciting news! If you follow me on Twitter and Instagram, then you already know, but I haven’t written about it here yet.

My mom and I have been working on making gym bags for a few months now. We got the idea when I said I wanted a duffel bag that was actually cute. So we started making one. Then I thought, we should make more and sell them, and also partner with a charity.

For the past few months we had wanted to figure out a way to help children in need in our native country of Paraguay. I did some research on charities and found Manitos.

Manitos helps children diagnosed with cancer in Paraguay. They donate money and supplies to the National Cancer Institute, which is the only hospital for cancer patients in the entire country. Taken from their website:

Children who are fortunate enough to be properly diagnosed have only a 50% survival rate over five years—in part because they may have to wait months or even years for treatment due to lack of funds or chemotherapy drugs. By contrast, the National Cancer Institute here estimates that pediatric cancer patients in the United States have a five-year survival rate of almost 80%.

So here we are now. We opened up our Etsy shop and hope you will consider shopping around! 10% of the proceeds of each sale will be donated back to Manitos.

At the same time, you get a custom-made, exclusive bag. We will only make 1-3 bags of each pattern, and will post new patterns monthly for you to choose from. It’s a great way to have something no one else will have!

All bags are water-resistant inside, which is perfect for sweaty clothes, sneakers and more.

Here are some pictures of our products (these patterns are no longer available, but below you will see fabric options).

Current fabric selections:

We plan on adding more fabric selections next month, and changing them up each month to maintain exclusivity.

Please let me know if you’re interested in a certain fabric/style of bag! We are working on one more type of tote bag to add as well.

You can find our online shop HERE.

Please help us spread the word! We appreciate your support, especially in helping out Manitos!

We are giving away 1 custom-made make-up bag! Style is like the one shown in the above pictures. Choose from the above fabrics, or these 2:

Oh my goodness what an amazing idea! Those bags look beautiful while being functional. I personally like the duffel because then I could use it while traveling too! All the above patterns are super cute, but I am partial to anything purple or with owls/XO pattern (my sorority haha). Good luck getting your business started!

Thanks so much Ani! If I find anything purple or with owls I will let you know 🙂

These are so cute! I like an over the shoulder bag because I find it easier to carry. I love geometric patterns and looks like you’ve got those covered! I also love anything floral.

    • reach-yourpeak December 10, 2013 at 6:51 pm #

Thank you! Let me know if you’re ever interested in a geometric tote 🙂 I’ll let you know if we get floral patterns in the future!

These are soooo cute! My gym bag now is a duffel bag, but it’s an old one that I got for free with my company logo on it at a work event. I’d love a polka dot pattern – actually that yellow one at the top is my favorite! I’m going to have to tweet this out so I can try to win!

Also, we had a snow day here today too! I’m right outside Philly. I thought the snow was a lot crazier on Sunday, but I’m still happy I didn’t have to drive in it today!

Thank you!! If you want, we can find a yellow polka dot pattern for you for a custom tote bag like the one in the pic 🙂

We were in Baltimore on Sunday and I’m glad we came back in the AM because I saw how much snow that area got!

Stop it! Those are too freaking cute!!! I love a duffel bag for the gym, but I’m in love with that blue and white print used for the makeup bag! SO CUTE!!!

HEY FRIEND! I was just thinking that we hadn’t caught up in a while, and I mosied over here to leave a comment, and lo and behold you are a) having a giveaway and b) I TOTALLY WANT TO WIN IT. Either way, I am getting one of those bags. I looove the geometrics. I will leave you comment on another post or drop you a tweet so as not to hog air-space here, but rig it for me so that I can win it ;D

    • reach-yourpeak December 11, 2013 at 10:50 am #

You are too kind!! I’ve been swamped so I haven’t had a chance to catch up on my fav bloggers ='( Let me know if you like a certain pattern and would like to purchase one in the future!

      • SuzLyfe December 12, 2013 at 9:37 am #

You know it. And I like that I have been promoted to fav blogger status. HOLLA

I’m so happy I found this, these bags are awesome!!! Great job! I think I’d do better with an over the shoulder gym bag because my entire day is literally gym and fitness-related. It would be more fashionable and comfortable if I was toting an over the shoulder instead of a duffel. Such pretty fabrics, too!

  7. milesmusclesmom December 15, 2013 at 3:11 pm #

these are great!! Tweeted, liked on FB and I really hope I win 🙂 it IS my 40th bday next week! lol
I currently use my TYR triathlon back for my gym bag but it’s old and literally falling apart. I like that I can fit a ton of stuff in it though. I am a Group Ex Instructor, PT and Coach so some days I am at the gym ALL DAY LONG with multiple changes.

I like bright, fun colors and patterns. Chevrons are always nice too!

    • reach-yourpeak December 16, 2013 at 9:47 am #

I love chevron too! If I get that pattern in soon I’ll let you know 😉 Thank you for entering and sharing!
